The following is a general Scope of Work and Specification for installation of “Guardrail style” fencing around the playground adjacent to Bethany Town Hall.
• Provide material and install approxomatly 475 L/F of “guard rail style” fencing along the driveway adjacent t o the playground field.
• Posts will be 8X8 pressure treated, buried to 42” min depth.
• Crosspiece will be a single 4X8 Pressure treated plank attached to the face of each post.
• Fastener will be appropriate sizes carriage bolt or “Timberlock” screws.
• Two metal gates and hardware will be included and installed at locations to be discussed.
• Two sections of the fencing will be offset to provide pedestrian access.
• The Town of Bethany can assist with hole digging. Machine, operator and auger will be provided if necessary. Schedule to be worked out with Public Works.
• All holes backfilled and compacted for post setting.
• All waste removed by contractor.
• Disturbed areas will be raked and seeded by contractor.
• Exact locations will be discussed at Pre Bid meeting on 10/07/2014 at 12:00.
• All work to be done in a workmanship like manor, all building code and manufactures installation specifications will be followed.
• Preference may be given to the contractor with the sufficient workforce and the ability to start the project within 30 days of bid opening. As well as being able to complete the job in a timely manner and without interruption.
• Contractor will follow all Building and Safety Codes during all phases of construction.
• The “Contractor” shall supply proof of liability insurance and workman’s compensation with bid.

Invitation to Bid
The Office of The First Selectman is seeking qualified bids for the installation of “guard rail” style fencing around the playground field adjacent to Town Hall. The location is 40 Peck Road, Bethany CT 06524. Bids will be due by 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 9th, 2014. This will be followed by bid opening on Friday October 10th and awarded on Monday October 13th at 7:30 PM during the Selectman’s Meeting, if a successful candidate has been chosen. There will be no plans or written specification, due to the simplicity of the project. All bidders are requested to be present at a Pre Bid meeting on Tuesday, October 7th at 12:00. Please call 203-393-2100 ext 119 with questions and to sign up for the Pre Bid .
Scope of work: Install approx. 475 L/F of Guard Rail style fencing and two gates around the playground adjacent to Bethany Town Hall. Material will be 8X8 Pressure Treated posts and 4X8 Pressure Treated cross pieces. Exact layout will be discussed at the Pre Bid Meeting. The Town of Bethany can assist with hole drilling if necessary. Please state this in proposal.
Interested bidders are required to visit the site and meet with the Facilities Manager at the Pre Bid meeting.
The Town of Bethany reserves the right to reject any and all quotations in whole or part if it is determined to be in the best interest of the Town of Bethany.
All bids are subject to the Code of Ordinances of the Town of Bethany 12-1.
Quotations may be held by the Town of Bethany for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days from the date of bid opening for the purpose of reviewing the bid packages and investigating the qualifications of the contractor prior to awarding a contract.
